Northern Representative Patricia Booth
Accommodation Systems Manager, Manchester Metropolitan University
What do you enjoy most about working in student accommodation?
The diversity of enquiries you get from parents and students! Every year we continue to be surprised by what their latest question is and how we can adapt our services to ensure that we stay ahead of the game in terms of services and information provided.
Can you provide details about a specific student accommodation project that you’ve been involved in, that you’re really proud of:
In 2016 I took the lead on implementing and introducing a self-selection system for our accommodation and we had over 5,000 rooms booked by the students directly. It was an incredibly rewarding piece of work.
What does ASRA mean to you?
It means a great group of colleagues who I can rely on for support and in turn, offer my expertise too.
What is your best ASRA memory?
I’ve got a few! From my first in St Andrews running around doing a treasure hunt to delivering my first presentation at the Brighton conference in 2017. Conference is so full of networking, learning and meeting new people. I always come away with new ideas and an extended network of colleagues...always great times at ASRA!
